Computer Game

Biggles Mirrorsoft (1986)
This game was released as a tie-in for the movie, including several key scenes from the film.

It was available for the Amstrad, Commodore 64 and ZX Spectrum, for GBP9.95. For its day it was quite involved, including two separate games: timewarp and sound weapon. Timewarp had you zipping back and forth in time to/from the trenches (both in them and above them). Sound Weapon put you in the cockpit of the helicopter (Flight Simulator this is not) to seek and destroy the German's invention.

For a good look at the graphical excellence, enjoy the official trailer.

And if that whets your appetite enough, then you can always download the game and play it all over again. If you find out how to get off the roof let me know.

Biggles Silverbird (1986)

While Mirrorsoft were the initial publishers of the game, Silverbird later re-released it. Identical game, different cover.

For all the details, including copies of original computer magazine ads for the game, visit World of Spectrum.

Other Games

Issued as a Pepys party game, you spent your time identifying people from descriptions and wandering around the room looking for matching characters to collect letters that spelled a secret message.

According to the box it was developed "in collaboration with" Capt Johns, although the only real link to our hero is the fact his is the first picture in the set and the start of the puzzle.

And the secret message: strike at 6pm.

Biggles Castell Brothers (unknown)

Issued as a Pepys card game, the pack consists of 44 cards in two sets (red and blue) and a small instruction booklet.

Each coloured set of cards contains some progress cards and some 'stopper' cards. The aim of the game is for each player to play his progress cards, in order, until the winning 'Biggles' card can be played. All the while your opponent is trying to do the same with their set, while also being able to use their 'stopper' cards to slow your own progress.

According to the booklet, the game is based on the following stories:
